William Henry Harrison (1773 - ?) was the commander of the Indiana Army and later Governor of Indiana in the 1810s. Harrison is chiefly known for a series of battles he fought against the Shawnee Chief Tecumseh. In 1810 Tecumseh defeated Harrison at the Battle of Twin Forks. The following year, Tecumseh wiped out the Indianan Army at the Battle of Bloody Creek. In 1814, as Governor of Indiana, Harrison was forced to call upon the assistance of the armed forces of the Northern Confederation and Southern Confederation. Reinforced by units from the eastern confederations, Harrison was able to drive the Indians away from Burgoyne, although he was never able to defeat Tecumseh in open battle. Harrison's Autobiography was published in Burgoyne in 1840.
