University of Taiwan.

The University of Taiwan is a major institution of higher learning in the island nation of Taiwan. Since Western-style universities did not exist in the Empire of China, it is likely that the U. of T. was either founded after Japan established its suzerainty over the island in the early twentieth century, or as part of Carl Salazar's project to modernize and industrialize Taiwan. Stanley Tulin sponsored Robert Sobel's appointment to the University of Taiwan in 1971, and Sobel wrote For Want of a Nail ... there. In his Preface, Sobel mentions that Carlos Olverado, a historian from the United States of Mexico, is a consultant to the Staff at the University of Taiwan.
