The Secretary of the Exchequer is a member of the Mexican Cabinet, and the head of the Department of the Exchequer of the United States of Mexico. The Secretary of the Exchequer is responsible for the collection of federal taxes, and the disbursement of funds as authorized by the national budget passed by Congress.

Three notable Secretaries of the Exchequer were John Berrien, who served under President Andrew Jackson and accompanied Jackson on his grand tour of the U.S.M. in 1823-24; William Wilson, who served under Miguel Huddleston and was accused of financial impropriety; and Stanley Zwicker, who served in the Cabinet of Pedro Fuentes, and also served as chairman of the Zwicker Commission, which was created by Fuentes in 1929 to investigate the Mexican supercorporation Kramer Associates.
