Sangre Roja

Sangre Roja, Arizona.

Sangre Roja (in English, Red Blood) is the capital of the Mexican state of Arizona. Its major newspaper is the Sangre Roja Voice.

Sangre Roja was established, or founded, following the creation of Arizona by the Mexico City Constitution of 1820. President Andrew Jackson visited the city in 1823 during his grand tour of the United States of Mexico, and gave an address there to the Arizona legislature.

The Sangre Roja Voice covered the 1875 Liberty Party convention in Mexico City, concentrating on coverage of Thomas Rogers, the Governor of Arizona, who received the party's presidential nomination.

Sangre Roja does not have an entry in Sobel's index. The city is mentioned on pages 94 and 103 of For Want of a Nail ....
