San Fernando is a city in the northern part of the state of California. It is located west of Williams Pass in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
The city was the site of the Battle of San Fernando, which was fought between 5 and 7 July 1850 during the Rocky Mountain War between the United States of Mexico and the Confederation of North America. The battle was a tactical draw, with Mexican General Francisco Hernandez and North American General David Homer both retreating from the battlefield after losing several thousand men each.
IOW San Fernando is a town within Los Angeles that formed around a Spanish mission founded in 1797. There appears to be no connection with Sobel's San Fernando, which seems to be located at or near the site of Nevada City.
