Olaf Henderson was the Premier of Iceland during the early years of the Global War. In January 1940 Henderson signed a mutual defense pact with Governor-General Bruce Hogg of the Confederation of North America. The pact allowed the North Americans to establish military bases in Iceland, and served as a means for the C.N.A. to provide covert military assistance to Great Britain by staging "thefts" of military supplies from the bases. Sobel credits the "stolen" arms with preventing Britain's defeat in the war and providing material for anti-German guerrilla forces in Europe.
It is unknown whether "Henderson" is a patronymic, as it would be for an Icelander IOW, or whether Icelanders have adopted hereditary surnames in the Sobel Timeline.
