Thomas Edison, 1878

Thomas Edison.

North American Communications was a company founded in 1890 by Thomas Edison to manufacture, market, and install his recently-invented telephone sets for commercial and private use. Within twenty years of its founding, North American Communications controlled the C.N.A.'s entire telephone network. North American Communications was one of several subsidiary companies of Edison's National Union umbrella corporation.

Sobel cites North American Communications as one of the old-line businesses established before the National Financial Administration began offering low-interest loans to aspiring business owners under Governor-General Ezra Gallivan's Fifth Point program.

North American Communications does not have an entry in Sobel's index.
