Francois Papineau

Francois Papineau.

My Father: His Cause was Just was a biography of Louis Papineau, the founder of the Patriotes, by his son Francois Papineau. The title comes from the elder Papineau's last words after the failure of the Papineau Revolt on 21 September 1839: "Our cause is just and will prevail. But flesh and blood can do little against a wall of lead and iron."

My Father: His Cause was Just was published in Mexico City in 1854, fifteen years after the elder Papineau's death.
