Luzon is the capital of the Philippines. The name of the city comes from Luzon Island, the largest island in the Philippine archipelago. It is possible that Luzon was originally the city of Manila, and that the name was changed after the Philippines achieved independence from Spain.
On 24 February 1936, John Jackson the President of the Mexican corporation Kramer Associates, announced that the company was moving its headquarters to Luzon from San Francisco, California, "to be closer to our Asian interests." K.A. remained headquartered in Luzon until 1950, when Jackson's successor, Carl Salazar, moved it to Taiwan.
