Lorenzo Dias

Lorenzo Días of Durango.

Lorenzo Días was a Continentalist Party member from Durango who served as Secretary of State in the Cabinet of President Arthur Conroy. During the Continentalist Party caucus in Mexico City in July 1869, Conroy sought to gain the party's presidential nomination for Días. However, the financial influence of Bernard Kramer, President of Kramer Associates, was so great that he was able to gain the nomination for his own candidate, Senator Omar Kinkaid, on the first ballot. Afterwards, Conroy said, "I knew Kramer had power, but I did not realize its extent."

Días does not have an entry in Sobel's index.

Sobel's source for Lorenzo Días' presidential candidacy is Harper Reichert's The Quiet Messiah: Arthur Conroy of Arizona (Mexico City, 1952).
