John Flaherty.

John Flaherty is a British historian who specializes in the history of technology in the Confederation of North America and the United States of Mexico.

In chapter 13 Sobel cites his 1967 book Builders of North America on the technical improvements to North American railroads between 1855 and 1880. Sobel also cites his books The Sound and the Fury: Radio in the C.N.A. (London, 1965) and The Little Black Box: Vitavision's Early History (London, 1969) on the rise of radio and vitavision in the C.N.A. in chapter 24. Later in chapter 24 Sobel cites Flaherty's 1971 book The Carminales Legacy: Mexico's Edison on the spread of the Carminales mantle lamp in the U.S.M. All four books appear in Sobel's bibliography.
