Jerusalem

Jerusalem is a city in the Middle East, located on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, and is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It is the capital of the Kingdom of Arabia, one of the successor states of the Ottoman Empire.

Jerusalem was first settled in the early Bronze Age, about five thousand years before the present, and is traditionally considered the capital of the Kingdom of Israel under King David and his son King Solomon. Jerusalem was the capital of the Kingdom of Judah in 586BCE when it conquered by the Babylonians. The city was subsequently conquered by the Persians, the Macedonians, the Romans, the Arabs, the Turks, the French, and the Turks again.

During the Global War, an Arab Revolt against the Turks was backed by the Germanic Confederation, and the Germans were able to conquer the Ottoman Empire and use it as a base for their invasion of India and Indo-China. Under the Germans, a native dynasty were placed on the throne of an Arabian client state with Jerusalem as its capital. Growing resistance to German domination of the Middle East culminated in an anti-German riot that rocked Jerusalem in 1969.
