The Jay Amendment was a proposed amendment to the Second Britannic Design sponsored in the mid-1960s by Governor-General Perry Jay. The Jay Amendment would have changed the selection of the Governor-General from a majority vote of the Grand Council to popular election. The failure of the Jay Amendment to pass represented Jay's major defeat during his term of office.
