The Governor of Mexico del Norte is the chief executive of the Mexican state of Mexico del Norte.

The only Governor of Mexico del Norte mentioned by Sobel is Henry Colbert, a member of the Liberty Party who was governor after the Rocky Mountain War. Colbert campaigned for the Libertarian Presidential nomination at the party's 1869 caucus, and after a certain amount of maneuvering behind the scenes, was able to secure it. In the 1869 Mexican elections, Colbert called for the return of his state's "lost provinces," which had been ceded to the Confederation of North America under the terms of the 1855 Hague Treaty. Colbert also had ambitions regarding Mexican expansion to the south, and in his acceptance speech he spoke of "the fulfilment of our territorial destiny."

However, in the general election, the Libertarians were outspent by the Continentalist Party, which had the backing of the two wealthiest businessmen in Mexico, Bernard Kramer of California and Monte Benedict of Jefferson. Colbert lost to Continentalist candidate Omar Kinkaid.

Six years later, Benedict secretly bankrolled another attempt by Colbert to win the Libertarian nomination, but was unsuccessful.
