British novelist Burnet Mayfield.
Burnet Mayfield (or Mayford) was a British novelist in the late nineteenth century. His most influential novel was 1893's The Moral Imperative, which gave rise to the social movement of the same name.
Sobel gives his name as Burnet Mayfield in a footnote on p. 234, but in his bibliography calls him Burnet Mayford.
Mayfield does not have an entry in Sobel's index.
