1. The territory that is Vermont IOW is split along the line of the Green Mountains with the western part in New York and the eastern in New Hampshire. (Sobel refers to "the part of New Hampshire known as Vermont" but my reasoning is that the area was in dispute between NY and NH before the POD and the British authorities would not have resolved this dispute entirely in favor of Patriot New Hampshire over neutral New York.) Burlington is a somewhat larger city than IOW because of more farming in the Champlain Valley and a larger trend of migration to attractive small towns. (DAMB)
